Using EGT for detonation detection
« on: September 18, 2009, 09:09:58 pm »
Here's a little theory that i read on an Aero-engine forum:
If an ignition event is significantly advanced then the 'burn' is going to be completed earlier in the cycle and the gases will no longer be burning as the exhaust valves open, so EGTs could actually lower if too far advanced???

Just wondered what you Guys make of this?

EGT and knock tuning IMO is completely different things!
It is straight way to melt pistons when analyzing/waiting on egt change due knocking!

when engine is knocking egt is lower, but egt is to slow sensor for knock finding.
