lambda sensors not lasting
« on: September 20, 2019, 02:32:19 pm »
hello all,

Bought 2off new bosch 0258 007 142 lambda sensors last year, did free to air calibration great.....ran car 3 times last year.....about October time, and its been driven once around my block.....not far...

I've ran the engine 3 times this year to warm up.....

Now lambdas are only showing 10.0 to 13.3% oxygen, and wont calibrate to 20.9%...…

So looks they are duff already....

These aren't cheap at £90 each.....

So I'm wondering why my car eats them, when I don't drive it?

Have a got another problem I need to find?

Don't really want to waste more money to have the same thing happen.

Any help appreciated.

thanks
scott

Lambda sensors that have been used are not really great for very long term storage in altering weather conditions. Maybe if it was inside all the time, in case you are seeing sensor failures as you don´t use the car much look into their installation and or remove them completely when you store the car.

I've changed a few settings inside the ecu, to hopefully help in making them last longer.

I ordered some new ones, but couldn't get the "free to air calibration" to stabilise, so I've sent them back and ordered some other ones.

Hopefully these will work better.

So more waiting for things to arrive, and the weathers just about turned for this year, so looks close to another year in the garage.

regards
