more pobs at once
« on: April 30, 2009, 05:08:30 pm »
Hi, i'm new here

I've just finished installing the Wb& EGT gauge, with the lambda sensor placed in the downpipe, right after the bend.

-After power up, the heating process for the WBO2 takes approx. 30-40sec...is this normal? The gauge shows Hxx with numbers rising till 99.

-When idling, i've got AFR readings 11.0-11.2...while my buddie's Innovate connected to the exhaust exit (with Innovate's own pipe-adapter-thing] showing 14.5-15.0  ???

-The EGT shows 002°C when powering up in the morning (standing in the garage, while the ambient temp. may be 15-20°C)
Do i need to do some calibration for the EGT? I didn't use the supported K-type connector, just soldered the green and white wires together. Could this cause some missreadings?

Thanks for all the answers, tips.
Tom

It takes a while to properly heat the sensor, 30 to 40sec is about right.  It takes longer the colder it is because Bosch specify a warm-up rate
Is the Innovate calibrated for the sensor you're checking?
If your friend has an Innovate can you try his sensor as a test?  The VEMS wideband self calibrates so swapping sensors around is quite simple.

Finally - what do your plugs tell you when idling?  If you've got 11.0:1 mixture then they will be fairly sooty.

Yes, he has calibrated the sensor with the Innovate on ambent air, it showed 20.0-20.5 AFR (which assume is about right).
My gauge displayed 20 AFR when i first connected and heated it up, before plugging into the downpipe..
About the EGT, what should it show with cold engine? Those 002°C isnt quite ok, do i need to calibrate it somehow?

Did I understand you correctly, you soldered EGT wires together? so what reading you are expecting? it shows teperature when the sensor is connected.
