Rolling Road Day,

Well at last the capri is going on a rolling road,
Stuball and myself along with 15 other v8 owners from my v8 forum, are heading down to Bletchley in Milton Keynes on 23rd August for a rolling road day,

If any Vems users are near by and fancy giving Stu and me a hand mapping the cars feel free  ;D
help will be on hand from a few MS users on the day if we get stuck  ;)

well was a good day,

first run i got:
Corrected Power: 232.4 BHP
Engine Power: 230.9 BHP
Wheel Power: 175.4 BHP
Drag Power: 55.5 BHP
Max Power at: 5915 rpm, - torque: 223.9 lbf.ft
Max Torque at: 4405 rpm
Max attained RPM: 5920 rpm


Run Two:
Martin held the car at set rpms on the rollers so we could map the car and we gained 5bhp

Corrected Power: 235.3 BHP
Engine Power: 231.3 BHP
Wheel Power: 180.0 BHP
Drag Power: 51.3 BHP
Max Power at: 5980 rpm, - torque: 228.4 lbf.ft
Max Torque at: 4400 rpm
Max attained RPM: 6265 rpm

Glad you had a good day :)  Shame I couldn't make it! (but I do have all the parts in the garage now)

You're a little down on power to the 250 I would have hoped for.  But it's nice to see a Rover v8 making more power than torque - it shows the twin TB plenum is OK.

Is your cam a little retarded?  Peak torque is quite high up the rev range, so advancing the cam a degree or so might give more torque through the rev range at the expense of a bhp or so at the top.

the cam maybe retarded a bit mate,
think it was done that way due to the 150bhp of nitrous,
I must get my arse into gear and get some help doing the igntion side of it with the vems,
be nice then, as can loose a lot of gear from inside the car then :D

Martin did say though,
if two people wanted the rollers for a day it would be £150 each

That's pretty good value with the rollers. 

Mapped igintion would give you loads of benefits besides weight saving and ease of making changes, so is well worth having.

engine: 3.5RV8, 4.6L Heads, 3.9efi cam



Then did the same as tony, WOT re-mapped on the rollers



Quite pleased with the results, its much nier to drive at full throttle now too  ;D

I know it's not the same dyno on the same day, but it should give a rough comparison.

Could you all fill me in on the engine setups, you have
the most powerfull engine made it´s power at lower rpm´s then the others.
 ??? ???

Is it a bigger engine or another platform?

They're all Rover v8 engines with VEMS running at least the fuel injection.

Mine's a 5 litre, and the other 2 are 3.9 and 3.5 litre.  The Rover heads aren't the best design, and I'm getting near the airflow limit with mine.  As this happens, peak power tends to move down the rev range.

I don't have the room under the bonnet for turbos.  But a supercharger is a different story... ;)

How can there not be room for a turbo but there is for a supercharger ?
They are similar in size.

There is room for a pair of front mounted turbo chargers like they have on Christell Racing's Beast

No room without cutting the bonnet :(  The supercharger fits where the PAS pump originally fitted and I end up with a different intake solution. 

And if I wanted more power, the best thing to do is swap the engine for a TVR 4.5 AJP8 or a Chevy LS6.
