Hello,

I have a saxo 1600 16v MY2003.
We welded and fabricated a complete stainless exhaust system to run the Saxo with a turbo and IC.
After some researh i have decided to buy a complete Vems v3.3 unit. (egt/wbo/boostcontroller/lcd)

Now it's running with 1.0.73final firmware that i found here on this forum. (upgraded from 1.0.53). and we have a big problem:
At +/-4000rpm's all signals in the datalog are gone which is resulting in missfires and big bangs from the exhaust.
After a while the engine picks up again and runs fine. Until we hit +/- 4000rpm's again..then the problem starts again.

I hope you can help me...(i emailed the msq + datalog to Rob)

I'll post some pic's later on cause im busy with getting the car running...

Hi,
This could be crank trigger related, have you took the VR sensor out and checked for a swarf build up on the end?

We've checked the VR sensor and coilpack on another similar Saxo with the original ECU. The VR sensor did well but strangely enough it didn't start with the coilpack while before VEMS was able to fire the plugs!?
We replaced the dodgy coil pack for an old Bosch double fire coil 2x2 (similar to the one in the vems.hu webshop).

To Rob's advice we enabled the "MAP (load) Multiplication" so we had to make a new VE table and we haven't got up to 4000 rpm yet.

Hi,

@Bat; Swarf build up on the end?means dirty? if yes: The sensor was found reasonable clean when we removed it. The VR-sensor runs fine in the other (non-modified) Saxo.
All parts on the turbo-saxo were cleaned during the modifications.

@Rob; Crank min period is to long?

As promissed some pic's (camera-phone, sorry!!)

This is the minimum time between trigger pulses. For this application where we use 2 trigger pulses per crank revolution it's 1/(2*8000/60)=0.00375s=3750us The authentic source (global.h) says 16 usec: uint8_t crank_minper;// Cranktigger period minimum (*16 usec)

The docs say this is the minimum period for the crank trigger (actually, between trigger teeth, so 180crankdeg for a 4cyl, even with many crankpulses). It is in 16us intervals.

It's a filter that limit the max trigger frequency.


So for a 60 tooth its 1/(60*8000/60)= 1/(8000) = 0.000125 = 125us

I calculated it the following way

@ 7350 rpm it takes 4082 μs to get from trigger to trigger

Then I dont want the triggersignals to get falsely interpreted when I slightly rev over the 7350 rpm rev limiter so I took 8350 rpm for my calculation which gave me 3592 μs trigger to trigger.

At that time I was not aware that the value needs to be divided by the 16 μs intervals  :(

I ran into trouble on the Toyota 2JZ engine, it was setup for a 12 tooth, but we changed to a 36-1 tooth, so once the engine got to ~3600RPM it all started to go funny.

Another day trying and this was the result at idle... ???
just after afterstart the injectors seem to close for short periods???

the saxo is running now +/-192pk/235Nm...problable the firmware wasnt uploaded correct.

Now im working on my display.
I have the blue display, but i cant find the pinsettings...help needed: were can i find the pinsettings for it?or does it work the same as the green one ???

I compared the datasheets from the green and the blue display: The pin-functions seem to be identical.
