Camshaft sensor for COP?

Hi,

VEMS install successfully finished ( http://www.vems.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=352.0 ), car is in working and driving condition. It's running with two coils - wasted spark. Before dyno tuning I would like to have coil over plug ignition.

According to Haynes, the camshaft position sensor is driven by exhaust camshaft. It informs the ECU when cylinder No 1 is on its combusion stroke, allowing sequential fuel injection and ignition timing (for combustion knock control) to be employed. Sensor is Hall (thre e wires, a 5V supply needed).

What parameters should I set in MegaTune to make it work?

Give 25 in the TODO! should be 0x02 when disabled box of Settings->Secondary Trigger / Cam sync settings (or 19 if you use the config.txt method) a try.

What 25 means?

It means a number of things - when you type it in and burn to ECU, then close and reopen the window you'll see its got a lot of settings
its a setting that works for a lot cam syncs.

I am guessing while looking at that picture that the trigger changes state at TDC

However you need to know which half of the trigger wheel relates to which phase of the engine cycle (ie is the tooth on the compression or exhaust stroke of cylinder one) to be able to work out the correct trigger edge for the cam sync.

The way the cam sync works is like this: -
The ignition channels (h[2]) are normally fired in reverse order until it gets to zero when it wraps around and counts down again.
When the secondary trigger sees a specified event it resets the h[2] counter immediately to zero and then wraps round as normal.

You therefore need to make sure you firing ignition order and cam trigger points will fit in with this type of scheme.

If you can post up your h[2] order, the engine firing order and the exact positions of the cam trigger edges in relation to cylinder one TDC we should be able to come up with the setting you need.

It turned out to be really simple, once right sensor was connected  . According to Volvo documentation I connected camshaft sensor but in reality it was knock sensor  , they are swapped in that doc.
