Open Throttle Anti Lag ALS
« on: December 30, 2012, 11:36:38 am »
Hi All,

Am trying to activate the open throttle ALS, but not much of luck, I have did the following:

FuelCut RPM = 2500
Fuel Resume RPM = 1400

That what the Help says to activate it ( 1100 RPM difference) But I had no luck with it, as I set many values for the IAC TPS threshold and Idle TPS threshold (in ALS Menu) but also no luck, it keeps giving me warning notes next to (FuelCut RPM &Fuel Resume RPM) in the Revlimit/Overrun/Safty Menu! as a start I made the throttle to open 10%TPS so I can go for higher if it worked, but still not working and the warnings still there.

Anyone have Idea about how to run it? as I want to run it on fuel cutting idle not the spark cutting idle

Firmware:1.1.96
Vtune: 1.3.1 (2012-7-30)

Thanks in advance guys :)

Warnings? You can ignore them. It is for those who chose 1100rpm difference accidentally.

Great then am ok then.

One more thing, should I raise the IAC TPS threshold (in Idle settings) to what it reads when the throttle is open? or should I just work with the idle TPS threshold (in ALS menu)?

I have no Idle valve working on this car, while the car idles smothly on 900RPM, and need to prees the throttle a little when it's cold.

Thanks,

Both are idle thresholds. One works as usual, another when ALS switch is ON. If throttle is fixed you should set both to equal value. Only case when both are different is two different throttle stops - some mechanics open the throttle when ALS switch is ON.

Here is a mild ALS setup that I have it activated in Boosted 4AG, that used for track only, this setup is kind of mild, you can have it configured to be wilder.

Am using Switch to activate the ALS along with throttle kicker in this setup, I think the kicker hold the TPS somewhere in the range of 18-22% , can't remember exactly.

you want to have idle with opened throttle? use spark cut based idle

I used this EVO Anti-Lag kicker, it would open the throttle up to 50% on the engine I installed on

You can use anything that can open the throttle or by-pass air to raise the RPM, just make sure that you have to raise the RPM high enough, you can use some kind of idle valve, but I don't think 1 will be enough

Or simply you can do as am going to do now, use the open-throttle anti-lag, it's mostly used on rally cars, by leaving the throttle open all times while the ECU control the idle and anti-lag.

"use spark cut based idle" can be very bad idea, fuel cut idle would be far more better, you can always look into the 'F1' help, it says that.

That seems to be fine, but you have to try it, cuz when I used to set 12% TPS it was not that hard ALS effect and that was on 3500RPM, but it might work with you, so try it.

Am going to do this on 2 cars now thats only for drifting, but I will able to switch between open throttle ALS driving and normal driving without any type of ALS on the fly.

Here the 2 cars on open throttle ALS with fuel cut idle, it really cools the engine and EGT.
