Mk2 Fiesta - 2.0 Zetec Turbo :: no trigger input
« on: June 19, 2012, 04:42:45 pm »
So here's the spec:

'88 1.1 Shell
2.0 Blacktop Zetec
8.1 CR (Decomp plate and MLS gaskets)
ARP Con Rod Bolts

Escort RS2000 MTX75 Gearbox with Quaife ATB diff
Custom driveshafts

Mitsubishi TD05HR 16G6 9.8T - twin scroll turbocharger
Custom exhaust manifold
3" Downpipe and exhaust
Dual EGT sensors

Custom dual plenum intake manifold with trumpets
BMW M50B25 throttle body and TPS
Bosch 0280 156 127 - 440 CC injectrors @ 3 Bar
Walbro 255 LPH Fuel Pump and 2 L swirl pot
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator set to hold 4 Bar

VEMS 3.7 (i've bought the unit without a case and i intend to use a ford ecu case and connectors)

Problem is i can't get the engine to start. Last week i've checkeed the spark, i've checket if the injectors were working and thy were, the problem was i didn't knew the TDC after trigger angle. After i found the infos here on the forum i've set them up and switched the coil trigger wires to get the correct fireing order. The problem now is that the VR sensor reads constantly 10rpm, from time to time it reads the correct RPM for one second just after i turn the key, it sounds like it's fireing up and after that it just reads 10 rpm. tried a new VR sensor, it does the same thing. Checked the VR wires thy are ok. Any ideas on what could be causeing this?

1) triggerlog file? Preferably just with 1st spark plug installed.
2) config file?

just realised that's the wrong file so made another one:

v3.3_u004194-2012-06-20-15.38.18.triggerlog

and the config file:

v3.3_u004194-A-2012.06.20-13.57.45.vemscfg

Hi!

Without deep analyzis: I would change VR sensor polarity. Signal after missing gap seems comes to early.

Also push Validate Config button and...

reversed the wires and it started. thank you verry much Gints!

i still have to solve other non management issues like brakes and stuff, and after that i can start mapping it.

cheers!

Hello,

Engine was working fine until last week when something went wrong in the ECU, injector3 has a permanently 12v supply after i switch the ignition on, without cranking.  This first happened while driving, luckily i didn't hydrolock the engine. i have changed the injector FET but it still does the same thing so i gave the ECU to a friend who is an electronics engineer to fix it.

Meanwhile i was thinking of wiring my launch control and shift cut switches and i was wondering if is this setup ok? LC will be set somewhere around 4000rpm and the shift cut will be enabled only above 6500rpm so they should not interfere with each other. Also, the board is a v3.7, should it have a built in +5v pull up?

regarding blown FETs - where is your flyback diode? In picture above I do not see it.
And whwt exact mosfets you use?

Well, i didn't knew i need one until the guy who mapped my car noticed some oscillations at idle and asked me if i had the diode installed, but the oscillations didn't bother me and i didn't knew it could cause so much trouble. Is 1N6282A the diode that should be installed on the flyback lead? The injector FETs are IRF640N.

Means you have 0V flyback now? Usually terrible idle. Poor control over mixture.
Or flyback wire not connected to injectors supply common? - dangerous because all flyback energy damping is up to mosfet.
Both scenarios are crazy!

Usually 1.5KE30AG.
1N6282A looks same diode.

i have the flyback wire installed, it's a bit hard to see in the pic above because the wire insulation is green. i've found a 1N6282A in the rescue kit, i'll solder it on the flyback wire after i get my ecu back.

well, i got my ecu back last week, and now i have another problem. it seems that it doesn't receive any  trigger input. i've checked the wires from the VR sensor plug, to the PCB, and thy are ok, so i replaced the VR sensor, still no trigger input. Here is what it said when i tried to do a triggerlog, most of the time, it doesn't even receive any data.  :'( I really have no idea on what to do next...

check voltage regulator bit right to second lm1815, isn't it hot? or try to use any p259 output, lets say for fuel pump relay, does it works?

I did notice that the fuel pump relay doesn't work, but i tought the relay died. I have also noticed that injector #1 is getting  about 0.12 volts as soon  as the ignition is on, without cranking.
