Don't see why not, but wouldn't you like something smaller and more modern?

I've tried other coils and they either burn out or blow one of the outputs my engine as standard uses a coil and dizzy so I want to get it running then il start fine tuning it

Blowing coils though... sounds like a dwell time issue.

Dizzy locked its connected to the camshaft was totally disconnected at the time of running electronic coils and dwell times set to 2.5ms which was about right for that coil type

Beware, sometimes "regular" passive/inductive coils can be very aggressive and the built-in IGBT in VEMS can't handle it. I setup up a BMW 535 -89 that I had recurring problems with blown IGBT, resulting in a melted coil. It had a single coil (dry/epoxy = compact) with distributor, the primary winding measured more like a CDI coil and required a Bosch ignition module to be handled right.

ive been trying vems to run a standard clio coil pack which it did for about 30 mins then had big probles put it down to a bad wiring loom so brought and fitted a new loom and low and behold bam goes another coil pack so going to run it on a single coil now hopefully .ive now orderd a new stepper and a few igbts from the vems shop to replace mine that are now blown

link to the coil ive been using

OK. But are you sure about correct dwell time?
Sometimes bad loom (thin wires) protect system from troubles if dwell is configured too long.

E.g. Suabru has 2 kinds of similar looking coil packs. One of those are heavily overloaded with as low as 3msec dwell time. And only thing what you see is catastrophic supply voltage drop and misfires.

Yeah there are 4 other people running this coil on standalone management systems ie Omex canems and adaptronic running the same dwell time and all fine except mine lol what sort of dwell times should I be looking at for a standard coil and dizzy setup

What coil and what dwell? And at what voltage? Do any of those people has some analytical basement of charge time they run?

And: does your voltage is properly calibrated. And what is your coil charge map scale?

rigth ive purchased this coil should be here tmrw
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/POWERSPARK-12-volt-Standard-Ignition-Coil-Mini-/110595290489?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19bffe3579

will be a direct 12v supply to it and one igbt output firing it
and as for the analytical basement of charge time im not sure but i know with the canems ecu they suggest running that coil ans at that dwell time as i believe they have run tests ect and that seem to work the best for that setup
when you say properly calibrated what do you mean setup in vems tune then yes?
coil charge map scale coundnt tell you ?where will i find this cheers

Under ignition settings.

Coil from ebay is for points. Old skool. Unbreakable with any dwell times. With cost of weaker spark and loooong required dwelltimes.

Yeah I went for something cheap and cheerful just want to get it running them il invest in something a little more modern
