Extra output for solenoid
« on: November 28, 2011, 06:30:59 pm »
Hi,

I have the usual ADU (AAN) PnP VEMS with the following extra connectors

    pin1 mcp3208 pin6,ch5
    pin2 mcp3208 pin7,ch6
    pin3 mcp3208 pin8,ch7
    pin4 EC36 pin 34 (power out)
    pin5 EC36 pin 36 (power out)
    pin6 GND

Can I connect a solenoid there that I can control on a 3D map with MAP/RPM/DC? I already have a WGFV but I need an extra for WI solenoid control.

thanks

Pin 4 or 5, if that's not obvious. Those are ignition drivers (IGBT) and can handle a lot. http://www.vemssupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,1266.0.html

The word power out is obvius but does not answer all. What do I choose in Secondary PWD settings: SPECFET, I259 or what?

my vems is PnP serial 1441. the outputs are the same?

pin4 EC36 pin 34 (power out) == I259 channel 2
pin5 EC36 pin 36 (power out) == I259 channel 3

It's not been made easy on all menus yet (this is one example) but if you go to "Ignition Outputs Visual" you can trace pin number to channel number. I259 is the ignition driver.

"assign output channels" also give help. It is much more easier these days than couple years before.
Then you had to keep this schedule always at hand:
