Injectors won't seem to open
« on: November 23, 2011, 04:20:17 pm »
Hello everybody,  Im new to VEMS and I have some trouble firing up the engine for the first time.
I have a crank signal and a spark but the injectors won't seem to open when I crank the engine. I tested this with a 12v lamp between 2 injector pins. My fuelpump does seem to work because I hear it buzz when I turn on ignition and crank.
Could there be anything wrong in the config? Thanks

I'm using the newest vemstune and tried 2 configs(bmw m20 engine)

Use the built-in report tool in VemsTune, and post the link to your report (which will contain the config).

Use a test in injector output visual.
Try it with disconnected fuel pump, even better with injectors out of fuel rail.
Do not do this with assembled and pressurized fuel rail with injectors. You can easily fill up your engine with fuel and destroy it.

Test will make them open and close.

Put a hand on them and test them, you should feel and hear them clicking.
Do this fast and never let injectors be open for longer than necessary.

This might be a stupid question, but is the TPS calibrated? A log would let me see this quickly.

If the TPS is over 70% it shuts off the fuel injectors. Most OEMs do this as well for flood clearing purpose.

Yes it is, I used the calibration wizard before. Heres my log:

You can see me kicking the gas as I start the engine :-]

I do seem to have some validation errors(im using a 3.2 config), could these hurt the pulswidth?:

Regarding no fuel: reconfigure your overboost protection to somewhat higher.
Regarding config errors, review my recent posts - there is how to solve that.

Thanks! I have a pulswidth now. The car wanted to come alive for a second but died. I'll have to do some more testing but its too dark right now. Hopefully I can get her to run this weekend.
I also found the validation error, it was in the ignition output menu:the unused 6 and 7 ignition outputs where invalid.
