12x12 Lambda Table
« on: May 27, 2007, 03:43:18 pm »
what should i be aiming for as a rough estimate on setting up the lamda values in the table,
this is aimed mainly at the rv8 guys on here,
i gather at WOT the car needs 0.88 lambda but 0.85 when on accel richment at WOT
im trying to set my lambda table up to make sure its somewhere near right, the car runs sweet dont get me wrong, but i may have the table not quite right in places etc,

ta for any replies or table advice,

mmmm.
should i change my kpa to give a higher reading, as mines at 100,

also i noticed with this firmware version it has a 16x16 table, is this for even finer tuning?
if so should we be on this instead of 12x12 now?

Looks like my lambda table.  I don't mind it being shared :)

There is a bit of messing about to be done to get it right involving data logging to see where in the table WOT points are (a cluster depending on speed and gear) and where the common cruise points are in the table.  Don't rely on mine being right for your engine, although they won't be far wrong!

100 is OK, but I wanted to ensure I couldn't drop off the map.

12x12 is fine too - the ECU will interpolate nicely between the points.  16x16 is nice but ultimately not necessary for this engine.

Can you post your EGO feedback settings.

You dont want the wideband feedback to be in play when you are running N2O, the ideal mix for you is around 0.7Lambda when on the gas, max power is achived at 0.72 to 0.75 but things can get out of hand very quickly with that mix.

Peak KPA is dependent on air pressure.

Currently the pressure here in Newmarket is 996mB - so I'd be expecting to see 99.6kpa
Newbury shows 995mB (99.5kpa)
Isle of Wight 992mB (99.2kpa)

Last week I saw 1024mB (when it was hot)

For NA cars I put max kpa to 103 as that about the maximum pressure we'll see on this planet.

my nitrous system fires extra fuel mate,
so once i have the table set correctly, i can turn of the wideband correction and then set my fuel side on the nitrous system,
then i know the cars fueling is correct along with the nitrous fueling.
it worked perfect last yr,
but now i have spent a lot money on the engine wanted to be a bit more cautious with the fueling,

I want to be cautious too, Nitrous kit adds more fuel probably to around 0.7 to 0.72, but... The EGO will be saying "pull back to 0.85" so what will that do when the gas is on?  At best VEMS will pull a few % of fuel out to try and lean things - which you dont really want.
If you turn EGO off at WOT (when N20 is activated) then you'll have the same injector PW regarless of what the lamda is.

all we did last year mate was,
map the car so the ve table was running to the lambda table with little correction,
then when at the track we just turned the correction off so it ran on the ve table only,
then when finished we loaded the correction back on and drove home with full wideband control again,
i don't mind doing it this way, as long as the lambda is right when we do the ve table against it.

did you manage to prod anyone Rob? ;D as would like to move onto setting the nitrous up  :o :o :o

also in the How To Power Tune Rover V8 Engines book it recomends at WOT with accel enrichment 0.85 lambda and at wot with no enrich 0.88 i read one of your posts and you recomend 0.75 and 0.72,  ??? ??? HELP!!!!!  ;)

Well no one has answered... So I guess the prodding didnt work ???

I recommend WOT with N2O as being 0.7->0.72
Without N2O 0.88 sounds perfect. The Accel WOT is provided by the accel enrichment amounts.

Bit the bullet this afternoon,
i wired back up my ignition retard and nitrous tps inputs,
then said sod it lets go try it with the new stage 3 heads and cam and the ecu on closed loop. would of been rude not too.

it ran, not as good as i though it may of, it accelerated very well, or maybe its going better than i thought, but felt slower. i only had a bottle pressure of 800 though.
the timing is set to retard 6 degrees at 60%
i was getting a reading of 0.69 lambda while on WOT and on gas,
this sounds a bit rich to me, or would you recomend leaving it as is?
