Dead outputs
« on: August 03, 2010, 01:09:19 pm »
Ever since a friend borrowed my Vems unit some outputs haven't been working but I've really worried about it until now when I need more outputs..
It's 6 ignition (if I don't remember all wrong..) and 2 injection outputs that doesn't work, FETs and IGBTs aren't broken!
So the fault is some where before them.

Is it reasonable to think that the FET driver (for injection outputs) and the 74HC259 (for ignition outputs) is damage?
Or can it be something else that causes these sort of problems?

I would suggest the best method would be to send it back to HU if you're in Europe, or me if you're in the USA for a thorough test and repair (if needed).

It could be the config that keeps outputs from working. That's surely not unheard of.

You could post the .msq or .vemstune file and we could take a look at the config. Also note what firmware version you're running if you send a .msq. It's included in a .vemscfg, though doesn't hurt to state it here either.

The other option in the UK is to send it to me, just PM for details.

I'm in Sweden, I bought the Vems via Jörgen Karlsson in Gothenburg so maybe I should talk to him before I do anything.
My car runs pretty good, I'm just missing the boost control but the car functions without it (but big turbo on small engine = turbo lag..  ;D) so I wait for the winter and the send the unit for repair.

If Jörgen can't help me, how do I contact the Hungary people?
Maybe it's easier to send it to Rob in the UK?
