AAN no spark
« on: May 13, 2010, 06:17:26 pm »
Hi everybody.
I am getting no spark out the coils. Injectors are pulsing and fuel is being delivered. (Fouled plugs already). I have scoped the engine speed sensor and the ignition transmitter. Both are fine. If I put the stock motronic ecu in it fires and starts. I am using one of the base maps off the megatune list (VemsMT1.1.27_audi\VEMS Genboard V3 12x12 audi fw1_1_27\mswanson_s6_igbt_works.msq). Congfigured the basic settings.
One thing that is puzzling me though on the install. (http://www.efiexpress.com/catalog/article_info.php?articles_id=1). The stock wiring is the same config as if it has been switched already. I have checked this on the other vehicle we have and it is also like this. I swapped it anyway but still no luck. I put it back the way it was.
Any help would be much appreciated. P.S. I am running 1.1.27 firmware. Would it help if I change the firmware to a later version?

I managed to find a stock AAN S4 map which brought me back to when I started. The vehicle cranks and fires. Pulled the coil pack and found it only sparks on No.3 cylinder. All the injectors pulse.
Any help would be appreciated.

None of us have any access to the specification of each unit.  If you have spark on 3 only it suggests that the ignition settings need a looking at.

UPDATE:
Reconfigured the outputs and have spark at all the cylinders now. Have configured them according to the firing order. It sounds like its out but correct according to the wiki. It back fires. I am still learning the system. I will go back and check the offset.
To answer your questions:
cyl1 AANpin1, EC18pin11 StepperD
cyl2 AANpin2, EC18pin5 StepperC
cyl4 AANpin20, EC18pin10 StepperB
cyl5 AANpin21, EC18pin4 StepperA
cyl3 AANpin23, EC36pin11 ignch4
Firmware 1.1.27 and using Megatune

Any suggestions from this point would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hy, this isn't the primary trigger settings i know in VEMS Tune.....

There must be: first trigger tooth..., next trigger tooth..., etc....

In my setup with 1.1.64 was an incorrect setting (from stock ecu), than i had misfire.

Look at this setting and tell us.

For my ABY audi when I was on 1.1.27

Ignition outputs in us in h[2] = 04..00
0 = Stepper D
1= ignch 4
2 = Stepper A
3 = Stepper B
4 = Stepper C

TDC after the trigger is not 0 with series Flywheel. Normally is this 62°
