How to launch FWD on slippery? Time based launch?
« on: March 02, 2010, 04:24:03 pm »
Gravel, group start. N/a. Powerband from ~4500...7500. Before 4500 - nothing.

Usually second gear works better, but then it is risky to fall in hole before 4500rpm .. And it automatically means no podium..  Also WOT is overkill.

Please give your suggestions how to use electronic support from VEMS for best result.

That's a tough scenario, because on snow I can often feel best acceleration is gained by constantly "chopping"
at the throttle and not steady position or wheel speed.

You could use the new RPM Limit vs. Road Speed. This will allow you to launch at WOT in 2nd gear and still have
a controlled wheel speed acceleration rate.

In fact most important are few first meters.. Otherwise wheels make hole in the ground and car stays in this hole for "forever"

Does limiter from speed is supported? Speed from rear wheels?

Anybody tried time based rev limiter?

Fit studded tyres?

I don't think I have driven an OEM car that has a good launching performance on snow.

Most OEMs have a strategy of cutting torque and applying the brake on the wheel that is turning fastest (therefore slipping the most) to act in a LSD type way

I tried it on table-test with no luck on 1.1.70 Is it still supported?
Loaded non speed sensor f/w - but no luck. Firmware changes says - 64usec = unit. But table allows enter 255units as max. It is equal for just 0.016sec ... May be it works - but my cars traction isn't so good  ;D

Anybody know about this?  I tried it today (1.1.70fw, Rev Limit vs. Road Speed Table) and I can't get it to work in any way.

"Disable Launch Curve" box settings:

"Empty" = no rev limit
"TEST" = changes the bottom KM/H setting to "1", and no rev limit
"Disabled" = changes the bottom KM/H setting to "0", and no rev limit

I tried all three tests with the Launch Input Active, and Inactive.

Anybody ever have this working?
