Audi A4 COP ground
« on: December 10, 2009, 05:25:51 am »
Hi,

I am not satisfied of my car's performance with the new upgrade and started to investigate. My thought is weak spark  :-\ .
The thing is when I rewired the harness discovered a missing ground (4a) on 3 coils. How come the car was still running with no problems? Is it possible that the coils are partly damaged?
The timing is between 14-18deg and IAT is 42 deg max, 230kpa boost and I see too high exh.temp and the power is not what I thought it should be. There is no big difference between 180kpa and240kpa boost.
I couldn't find how to attach picture from  Megatune.

Which coils do you have, 4 wire or 3 wire?
The 4 wire coils have 2 grounds, so it will probably work for a short time with one ground broken.
You will make more power and lower EGT if you increase the ignition timing.

They are 3 wires ones. I will increase the timing when I am sure all is in perfect condition and find good way to hear my knock sensors, but I read that normal is up to 20deg and it is not that far.
