Starting issue Cold or Hot.
« on: October 27, 2009, 01:47:23 am »
just got a few bugs i need help ironing out,
Cant keep bothering poor dave via email.  ::)

when you try to start the car when cold if you dont touch the throttle it just cranks over and over and over, it may cough a few times but you also get a pop in the intake or exhaust every so often,
if you floor it it dont do anything,
but i tried feathering the throttle lightly on the 4th attempt this evening and it seemed to help and it fired near on instantly while lightly feathering the throttle,
when hot you have to crank it over a few times to, but it will cough a few times as above with the pop but will then fire and then run,

im running 1.1.44 firmware

any ideas?
Engine is stg3 high comp (around 10.5:1cr) 4.6 v8 with stg3 heads and a crower high lift cam,
Dave has done a sterling job getting the ecu repaired and the car to run,
just need help ironing a few things out,
Have the latest MSQ and datalog of the cold starting tonight if you want it posting up?

thought i should update this post as MWfire has done a cracking job off forum assisting in getting the car starting from hot/cold,
starts a treat only prob i need help with is, while cranking from cold, if it does not catch and you need to crank it over again im getting terrible kick back from the engine as if its locking up,
its fine when hot,
any ideas? is it somethimng to do with the cold settings?

I'm betting cranking advance on that one, what's it set at currently?
I've seen 4deg on cranking before.

I suffer the same. I doubt the crank advance has anything to do with it as it doesnt happen in 1.0.xx firmwares with the same crank advance. Its a bug the firmware.
