Quick 2nd VR Question

Rob, unfortunately I have to bother you yet again.  After conquering my mysterious ignition issue, I've gone on to look at my 2nd VR trigger.  Basically when I have it hooked up and crank the engine over, MT shows 0 rpm.  Hooking up DVM at AC to the trigger shows movement, so that is good.  The following is what I have done:

Soldered on 2nd LM1815 chip,  same orientation as first
wire from EC18pin12 to the 2nd LM1815 input pad
solder blob for SJ7 (http://www.phattransmissions.com/VEMS/InputTrigger.html shows SJ5 and SJ7 for v3.2.  My v3.3 has only one blob at the bottom, so i soldered that)
Have not shorted R182 according to GenBoard/Manual/InputTriggerHardWare

My questions are:
1) Does anyone have pictures showing how their board is configured for 2nd VR input?
2) Is there some way to check, via console, to see whether or not the AVR is seeing something from the trigger?

First up, set secondary trigger to 0x19 (decimal 25) and give it a try.
If that doesn't help, then try using the trigger generator program in the tools folder to create a 60-2 + 1 sync wave form that you can then use to stimulate the trigger inputs.
This will show that the trigger hardware is working.

Interestingly enough, GenBoard/Manual/InputTriggerHardWare says R30 is not soldered from the factory for v3.3 (thats why I didn't check).  My primary VR also works at this point, however I have not tested it past 300rpm in the car...

Alright, so I removed R30 and set 2nd trigger to 25.  Voila now MT shows RPM on cranking!  however it shows exactly 1/2 of the actual RPM (as determined by scoping the 60-2 wheel).  And of course, the spark stopped working again.   >:(

The following shows a scope trace of my 60-2 and 1 wheels in action:  the falling edge of the cam trigger comes in just a hair after the rising edge of the 8th teeth on the crank (roughly 1 crank degree)



Interestingly enough, even disabling the cam trigger in MT doesn't correct the RPM issue.  It almost seems vems is determined to use the cam trigger for RPM (hence 1/2 the reading) regardless of what I tell it to do.

Any ideas?  I'm this close to saying F cam sync and just go with wasted spark.  However the apparent simplicity of the 60-2 + 1 setup makes me think it can't be that hard...
