DIY(ish) MAF

Many people upgrade from the S14 MAF meter to the Z32 item. This of course requires a remap. And it's a fairly standard item, so putting it in with the other bolt ons and the correct chip is fairly straight forward.

Given that it's going to be mapped from scratch, is it reasonable to stick the S14 element into a larger tube, or will the element still run up to it's limit too soon?

I'm guessing that this limit can be changed by putting the element into a larger tube - ie for a given amount of air mass, the element will be cooled less as the bore gets bigger.

VEMS uses Speed density so you dont need a MAF of any kind.  We do have the ability to use a MAF but its for experimental purposes - i.e. I might try it one day on an engine I dont care about.
By using the 400kpa sensor and Inlet temp sensor you get none of the issues that you have with MAFs running out of headroom, getting dirty and all that sort of thing.
