What firmware? What version (date) of VemsTune?

i uploaded v1.2.0  about 2 weeks ago, and i have tried all vemstune versions from 02-05-12 to present 29-06-12....and its just the same.

I have managed to get it connected today....but within seconds it has disconnected, and a message about firmware is too old....

was working fine last week.....and i have not changed anything since then.

cheers

When you uploaded 1.2.0, what vemstune version have you used then ?

hmmm must have been release from 11-06-12, as i have just moved house on the 8th of june and i did it a few days later.....

i can now get it connected when everything is set to 19200 baud, but the connection only lasts less than 20secs before it disconnects.

tried another laptop and the same issue, so i can rule this out.

updated the prolific usb-serial drivers, and still the same.

i have tried the "verify firmware" when i got it connected and the result was "firmware is different"......

So i presume somehow i need to re-upload the firmware, but i cant keep it connected long enough to do this.

cheers

When you do a proper firmware upgrade, the ECU is in bootloader mode and I suspect it won't disconnect and cause trouble for you at that point - if it does I can only blame VemsTune or serial adapter/drivers. I can't really say anything similar has happened to me, but the latest string of "nightly" VemsTune releases might suggest something has been causing symptoms like this, likely only when you're "online" with the ECU.

looks like you where right.....searched the house for a laptop with a proper serial port, installed latest vemstune, and connects strightway with no nag "cannot leave boot mode" messages.

Reloaded V1.2.0 firmware again just in case, and now its all working again as it should, just taken 2 days work to sort.

Looks like my serial-usb has let go and is now faulty.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction and your help.

Just need to look a serial port options for the laptop i use for tuning.

cheers

I'm always nervous about swapping to a new serial port adapter. All the possible hardware combinations with different adapters and the computer and operating system seems to make it hard on us.

I trust the Prolific chips pretty much - but only with the latest drivers from www.prolific.com.tw : http://www.prolific.com.tw/US/ShowProduct.aspx?p_id=225&pcid=41
