Testing Outputs
« on: April 04, 2012, 03:59:31 pm »
Hi

i want to test the outputs on VEMS and although i follow the procedure correctly i cannot get any responce from the N80 or ISV valve, even though i know the ISV valve is working!

I have the ignition key ON, without running the engine
i go to outputs/assing output channels/ test mode ON

then i go to the 2 specific channels and tick the box to allow the ON/OFF button to be enabled. I click the button on or off and i get no responce no clicking no activity from either the ISV or the N80.

am i doing something wrong?

thanks
vas

do you have 12v on one side of the solenoid?

I don't know. I have the Audi cable tree and plugs connected as they would during operating conditions

What I mean is that some relays only get turned on at specific times , i.e engine speed for instance, so the relay that poweres that valve might not even be on.

Something to look for before assuming that there is no signal there.

i see,
i dont know that im afraid. i was under the impression that with this testing procedure, those relays should be bypassed by VEMS

How would that work?

the valve needs 12v from somewhere. If there is none there is nothing the ecu can do about it.

so if i know that the valve is working with giving it externally 12v, how can i test if vems is using the correct output to operate the valve?

i am not aware of there being any relay for the N80 valve (EVAP)

What I mean is that one side of the valve needs 12v
the other side gets the grounding signal from the ecu.

So without 12v it doesn´t matter what the ecu is doing you can´t measure it.
