Wideband AND EGT outputs..
« on: January 02, 2010, 11:23:12 pm »
Hello folks,

I'm using a VEMS EGT guage, LAMBDA unit, to give a wide band out put to my standalone ECU on my R33 Skyline, works perfectly.! cant fault it, now I do also want to feed in the EGT value into the ECU, but i dont think I can have both outputs of this guage which is annoying, as means I'll have to get another, lambda unit just to feed the ECU and use the VEMS EGT output... or can i get both outputs from t.. ?

Thanks !

Stu

I'm afraid that it only has the one output, I've not come across an ECU that takes an EGT in - what one are you using?

Hi, super quick reply ! : )

wish all companys were like this : )

Ar bugger, o well, would be a superb feature, if theres any future development to occour.. !

The ECU is a tornado, made locally to me by "specialist components" ,really feature full ECU, we can map against EGT, so will tweak fueling and ign against high ex temps...

this just means I'll have to get either another EGT sensor for ECU or a lambda sensor...think i'll use the VEMS for EGT input, and visual Lambda, and get another lambda sensor to feed ECU..

thanks !

oo while im here, can I dim the display at all on the guage, its nice during the day but by night i tend to cover it !

Gary at APT uses those, he rates them highly.
Not sure about the dimming, I'll see what I can find.

yea Gary has used the typhoon ecu, not the tornado yet.! tornado is the new version, really good. :0 and Simon the developer is a really Can Do chap.! if its a sensile suggestion, give him a few days and the feature is there !

Also my VEMS came from gary, another really good chap.  : )

Yea being able to Dim my Vems guage would be a simple but soo soo pleasing feature ! : )

only other think, not that its a major issue as I always leaving mine on showing EGT and AFR, BUT if you switch it to a different display whilst running and your using it as a wideband aswell, the output goes mad for a few seconds, I assumed it was only changine the display, but from use it appears the guage almost reloads. ?? dopes that make sense.. ?

Cheers.!

Stu,

There should be the ability to dim the display in the MegaTune app under the Settings->Display Settings category.

I really should take a look at the Tornado, there are some extremely good ECUs on the market these days, it's a shame that VEMS never had the development support it needed to take on the competition in the UK.
