Mounting VEMS
« on: April 30, 2007, 03:59:17 pm »
Just curious as to how others are mounting their unit, I thought about mounting it within high density foam to take some of the shock, but I'm concerned about heat build up, I guess it uses the body for heat sink?

I went for the only dry place ( up under the scuttle ) with easy access to wiring.

made 2 hooks in ali so it can be easily removed for security.

Heat shouldn't be an issue as theres plenty of dissipation to be had from the box, and heats never been an issue.  Lots of people have theirs mounted tucked away so airflow shouldnt be an issue.

You could take the front plate off to drill mounting lugs if you fancy doing that, or use a bit of alumium strip held in place with the screws that hold the front plates on.  Alternatively you can put a bit of foam under it and bungy the thing in place!

i made an ally cradle and linded it with sticky back foam to protect it from shocks,
and mounted it under the glovebox.
