AE86 + 20V 4AGE
« on: July 22, 2009, 08:56:11 pm »
I rebuild my first ever engine this winter and then modified it to fit the AE86 without hacking the firewall. Here she is with the new harness:

I've been trying to get this thing working for some time now. First major problem was that I got spark at all the wrong times. Gints gave me the needed hint and I got my reference tooth table fixed. At the time I was driving my Toyota 1ZZFE COPs like I would the FETs inside the ecu. But since I couldn't get the thing to start in spite of getting (enough) fuel I thought that the spark might not be strong enough. Thats why I wants to drive them by the stepper. But after mounting the chip and connecting 12V I still get no spark.

h[2]=38 48 68 58 38 48 68 58
Or in megatune:
Stepper A EC18
Stepper B EC18
Stepper D EC18
Stepper C EC18

Water pump is always on:
-40
0
S259
i7
I don't know if I still have to do this when using 1.1.44but it didn't do any good anyway. Anything else I have to do?

I can choose from i1...i7. Maybe its because of a newer firmware?

Well I found what might cause my biggest problem: The way I read the toyota manual it says to to use the knock pin grove on the pulley side without "5" on it. And I did eventhough I made my own mark on the other one. So the exhaust cam is 1/3 rev off :-\

I really love those stacks :P

you should be able to select from 0-7 and from 0i-7i

the "i" means inverse. Meaning the control works opposite. Instead of open it will be closed and so on.

After quite a bit of messing with this I still can't get the thing to iddle properly. Spark is good and comes at the right time. Ignition is set at 15 degress.
2 ms primepulse, 5 ms when cold, 3 ms when warm while craking.
Reqfuel 6.5 ms and ~60% @ <2000 revs/min
The throttle is opened 3% and then set to zero.

It will run poorly for a few seconds and then die. Any adwise on how to proceed? What ever I do right now just makes it worse it seems =(

New spark plugs are comming in tomorrow, so I hope this will help.

I'm not controling the ICV at this time but when plugged it wont run and when left open (disconnected) it won't run.

Log the instance when it´s running, then idling and then dying.
Then we´ll be able to help
Also put up your msq.

I got a little further: I got it running a stabil 900 rpm yesterday for ten minutes. I plugged the intake for the ICV with tape and adjusted the airflow with small holes. It was very nice to hear it and I'm now sure that everything works as it should.

So today I tried to make the ECU control the ICV. But because my H[2] was wrong I opened the injectors and filled the cylinders with fuel. (D'OH!!!) Oh well I'll give it another go tomorrow :)
