primary trigger lost
« on: October 07, 2015, 07:06:06 am »
Hi guys, after changing oem coils for the ones used on audi 2.0 tfsi on my audi aan, my vems v3.6 sees no more triggers in triggerlog. I'm using auditrigger setup and it used to work fine. Sensors are tested and they're fine, also grounds so I think I might have some hardware issues. Which component fails most often related to triggering and how can I test lm1815? Or should I first try some other firmware? Currently running 1.2.31.

maybe p259 chip failed, or you just are cranking with weak battery that's why you don't see anything in the log

I have only tach out connected to EC36pin4 which is under P259. As far as I understand P259 is not related to triggers or am I wrong? I will recharge my battery and try again.

if he dies it takes power from chip who feeds lm1815 so they wont work :) is your fuel pump working when you are cranking? that could indicate you have rpm or not

Fuel pump is working, but its connected to one of the injector outputs, not P259.

One strange thing I noticed for the first time is that every time if I open "record triggerlog" feature, its showing me "start v3" button as grey, like its already recording triggerlog.  So when I first open it, I have to click on "stop v3" and then I can click on "start v3". I'm not sure if it means something.

that mean you are having rpm just loosing sinchronization with laptop when cranking, try to crank without spark plugs :) and just watch you have rpm or not :)

Tried fully charged battery and removed sparkplugs. Still nothing. No trigger or rpm. I need to measure again crank sensors cause my digital multimeter seems to be broken.

It makes sound after turning ignition on, I can't hear it working while crancking because of the crancking sound, but last time I checked one sparkplug out of five was wet. It also could've been caused by the fuel pressure left in fuel rail? All five spark plugs should've been wet, right? Anyway thanks for referring to the fuel pump. I'll investigate this further.

Crankhome was 987ohm and primary vr 840ohm. Could be too small? I tried to replace them with each other, so ecu should show at least primary trigger, but it didn't.

Most likely p259 blown, inspect this (or ask Peep to check it for you) before anything else.

Best regards, Dave

Cheers Dave, is there any way I could test P259 myself?
