I dont No what you mean by the pinouts on the coil , there are 3 wires for each coil , 12v + , Ground and signal wire from the vems,
The coil Ground wire are attached to the inlet manifold together with the rest of the Ground wires , this is standard setup on the subaru , there are from the joint ground connection on the manifold 4 Ground wires that goes to the ecu , all on the standard loom

Thanks

I meant exactly what you thought and replied.
Try to ground the ECU in a different spot. I normally never use the engine block.

"Do Any of you have a fix for loosing connections all the time when running vemstune "
In my case this issue was solved by good ground and shielding of the RS232 link and cable.
Scope the ground signals to find out the bestset up. Beware the genboard is quite noisy and to my experience not good to offer good shield reference

"there are 3 wires for each coil , 12v + , Ground and signal wire from the vems, "
The coils I know do not need to be grounded. Ground is only done by the ecu during dwell.

Thanks

I will try to shield the rs232 cable straight of the pcb , to see if that Will help ,
I work almost on subaru only , and on the newagde 2001- the coils are all 3pins , only the older pre 96 is 2pin coils with a seperate ignitor module , the ignitor is build into the 2001- coils :)

I Will also try one of the extra rs232-USB adaptor that i Got from the vems shop last time, but the cable is 1mtr long and i predict that Will course extra problems :)

After i have found the problem with the speed signal going to zero for a split second every now and then,
I have disabled launchcontrol ,
And the disconneting problem have also disapired,

So there is a problem with the firmware and the speed input ,
As the other Car i loaded 1.2.11 firmware into have been running with launchcontrol rpm/speed for year without problem and this i now a problem as the input fals to 0kmt every now and then

It was my turn. I went fw 1.2.15 + last VT exp. and my Netbook (samsung NP-NC110) + prolific was disconnecting constantly, as before the connection was steady.

I thought it was because of the noise of my new injection, fw etc .. Then I recalled I changed recently the motherboard of my netbook. I scoped and noticed that the prolific cable was shielded on the side of the computer not on the RS32 connector side and that the shield of the USB connector was quite noisy.

I soldered a wire from this usb metallic shield to the car ground, et voilà rock steady connection with prolific.
It seems that the USB port of this board was more sensible to noise that the one before
