Nissan RB25 / RB26 Trigger settings - 24+1 or factory CAS
« on: October 15, 2012, 07:23:46 pm »
Hi All,
taking some time to help a new VEMS user with their Nissan GTR install.
The board is on the car, all ignition / injection outputs working

They have a factory CAS, and a modified 24+1 CAS, happy to use either.
Bench testing we can see full RPM range with the 24+1, and the outputs activate.

On the vehicle we have seen approximately correct RPM while cranking, engine appears to fire but it is clear the firing order is wrong.

so, 2 questions:

- is the auto config for nissan (selecting Nissan from the drop down at the bottom of the setup window) 100% correct for factory CAS setups? IF so 4 or 6 cylinder?
- Does anyone have verified correct settings for either 24+1 or factory CAS on a 6 cylinder they can share?

Thanks in advance!

You still need to enter the right firing order under Base Setup -> Ignition Outputs Visual .
Remember that the table is reversed ( firing order from bottom to top )

Thanks Erikk,
I have verified the firing order as per the engine specs, and tried it on the engine in every starting order possible just incase.
the ignition outputs visual page states they are fired as 0, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, though the engine seems to be closest to running when the firing order is entered as 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0.

Update to this - using 1.97 FW and:
- 24+1 trigger disk in CAS
- '6 Cylinder 024' settings from drop down in primary trigger settings window

The firing order looks perfect, but I cannot get the timing to zero without putting trigger tooth and next trigger tooth to 7 and 8 respectively, and TDC at 120 degrees before trigger.
Also the RPM appears to be out by a factor of 2.

I find it really surprising that nobody has posted settings for this disk yet it is reported everywhere that it works just fine... surely someone can assist?
Going to try newer firmware and the standard CAS next.

Disconnect injectors and fuelpump.

Then try this, first put these in Primary Trigger Settings:

Triggertype: coil
Tdc after trigger: 60
Number of teeth: 24
First trigger tooth: 0
Next trigger tooth: 4
Angular width of tooth: 30

And enable camsync.

Then strobe the engine and watch how far away you are from cyl 1 TDC.

You can easily move it 120deg by moving the whole ignition output table one way or the other, there are buttons for it in Ignition outputs visual.

When you are starting to get close, you can move the tdc by 30deg by each "first trigger tooth" you raise.

If you have entered 10deg at cranking and you strobe it, it shows 50deg then just add 1 to First trigger tooth, it will move it to 20deg, then just add 10 more to TDC after the trigger and you will be close enough to start the engine.
Dont touch next trigger tooth, leave it at 4.

The trick is to move the output table until you´re starting to get close!

Try this and see how it goes!

Thanks Heaps Erikk!

I managed to find your members page, or one you had commented on regarding the factory CAS setup: http://www.vems.hu/wiki/index.php?page=MembersPage%2FFeroNissanTrigger
Have you had a vehicle running for a period of time with this? I would like to stick the factory option if it is known to be good.
Also are the settings you posted there still valid? Any chance you have a config file you could send me?

I will test out your settings for the 24+1 when I get back to the car - I think the trick is going to be shifting the ignition outputs along in the table. I think I have the right order but wrong starting cylinder.
Thanks so much!!!!!

OK I got this all working with 1.2.6 FW and 360/6 factory nissan CAS.
I will try to post up the firing and output wiring order for anyone who has to do the same search as me in the future :)

Both the 6-slot (primary trigger) and the 360-slot (secondary/camsync) is in the CAS. Everything stock.
