Random misfire when over 270kpa
« on: October 12, 2012, 06:31:45 am »
Hello
I'm running 1.1.96 firmware, GT3076R
Audi 2.2 AAN engine, BKR8EIX out of the box plugs, misfire was worse before with Bosch, NGK plugs work great even on hot weather.
High Output Coils from 034

Anytime I go over 270kpa I have random misfire.

Coil Charge Time is 2.50 ms
Coil Charge MAP scale is 30

What could the reason of misfires?

What is the dwell at that time?
Do you know what the maximum current capacity of the coil is and at what dwell time?

Dwell boost scaling can go just up to +40%. 3.5ms is nothing dangerous for these coils. with long dwell times they want to produce nose in wiring. I recommend to use capacitor at each coil supply if some problems appears.

I think IGN-1 coils are overrated. Their produce high energy. But problem - in too long time. For high rpm applications no sense for that...

Go with small spark plug gaps.

And what injectors you use?
