EGT calibration - offset?
« on: July 23, 2010, 11:44:22 am »
So I had my first track outing with the car and among the issues I had was my EGT readings. I calibrated it to ambient temp but I must have done it wrong because while the ambient temp reading was sensible, and so was the idle (430ish), it got up obscenely high at redline. It logged 950C but at 11.7 AFR and 21 degrees. That's gotta be BS.

I tried searching for threads on calibrating the EGT and per Rob's suggestion, I'll try again with ice and boiling water. But the threads I found talk about EGT offset... this doesn't seem to be there anymore (in the config or vemstune), just the calibration constant. So do I only need to adjust the calibration constant?

egt cal is 71-72. For correct egt callibration you need exact voltage source.

Thanks man. I tried calibrating again, this time with boiling water and ice, and ended up with 76 (the value I got to get it to match the ambient was 95). I'll try it again on the track and see. It showed 118 in boiling water, so my 950 was probably more like 800 or less.
