Wiring on Mustang TPS
« on: May 24, 2010, 07:46:03 pm »
Hi,
I'm having difficulties figuring out the wiring on my TPS sensor. It's of a Ford Mustang, model 90 or somethiong and has 3 wires.

Green,
Orange
and black

Is there a proper way (with the exceptoion of the wiring schematics ofcourse) to identify which wire is what? 5V, signal en ground...
When I put the DMM on it, i get readings on 2 wires with resistance. but thats all i got.

Any help much appreciated.
Thanks, Jeffer

the TPS should be just a variable resistor, find the pins with the highest resistance between them, then measure the resistance between one of those pins and the 3rd and move the throttle - the resistance will change.

Then put +5v on one of the first two pins, ground on the other and the signal will come out from the final pin.

Doesnt matter which way round it goes as you set the TPS high and low values to suit.
