How to connect Vems with bluetooth?

I would recommend keeping the ability to use the USB-Serial adapter.  At least for initial setup and firmware updates.  I did do a firmware update over bluetooth but it takes longer and I am not sure what will happen if you loose connection in the middle of an update.  I cannot imagine it would be good, so my firmware gets updated over USB.

Also, I don't think that bluetooth is fast enough to capture a trigger log, so having the ability to swap the USB-Serial adapter would be valuable, but maybe not absolutely necessary.

Is this type of connection fast and stable enough to replace need for usb to serial adapter cable?
yes, it is more stable than usb serial adapters, it works much better when you have crappy ignition system where usb serial starts to disconect.

Can you try if its fast enough to record log file?
I had disconnect & freeze problems after 5-10 minutes, but i think its becouse of slow netbook -old atom CPU with profilic usb to rs232 adapter.
Ignition was active COP. I also remember i had problems with one or two cylinder power values. So maybe it is ignition related. !?

I tried to grab a quick trigger log with the bluetooth module.  I haven't used it since I "upgraded" to Windows 8, and, although the set up looked identical to Windows 7 I couldn't get it working.  When I get time to workout bluetooth I will report back if no one else does.

Did anyone used EC36-pin28 +5V to power bluetooth?

mattias

Yes. Add to that, the universal harness does this.

Seight-v8

yes my Bluetooth adapter works fine running the 5v from my vems ecu.....

My Bluetooth adapter will work with 5-9v either battery or from pin 9 on the dsub.

Mines wired to feed 5v from ecu PS2 connector to Bluetooth & GPS sensor.

do you know if ec18 pin17 on old vems v3.3 (3.5) can be connected to ground internally, with wire to ec36 pin26 GND.
On v3.6 pinout ec18/pin17 is gnd. But on v3.3 looks like there is nothing, just trace on PCB that leads to wbo heater no2 that is not installed, (this is middle pin) and it is connected to square component behind it...
I was hoping i could get GND on ec18 to use it for serial connection on car loom, to be able to remove separate rs232 cable that goes directly out of the vems box.

Does anyone know why it wont connect over bluetooth when bt adapter  speed in set to 115200 (AT+BAUD8)
It works fine on 19200...

Anyone has BT that works higher than 19200bps ?

VEMS

Hello Lost,

BT adaptor does not support on the fly baudrate changes, therefore only 19200 is supported.
