Triggering / Mini MPi sectrig problem
« Last post by FullGasCZ on December 20, 2021, 09:55:20 pm »
Hi, i have problem with sectric on Mini Mpi, it is stock VR sensor and ecu dont accept this signal. It should be that voltage on the peak is too low? Or shape of curve is incorrect? The sensor is in the groove in the lobe of camshaft.

Thank You for answer

Modifications and Repairs / Re: ETC Module

This isn't hard.

Either the pwm pad as Peep pointed out, or a spare injector output as Valdas pointed out goes to SSC6 pin 1 (Bridge control). SSC6 pin 6 (GND) needs to be connected as well, naturally.

Forget about the PFET, those aren't for ETC. Do that later if you need.

People should be ordering the ECU with ETC so you can just plug it in. Or order the ECU with the ETC mounted inside.

Solenoids / Re: Correct VR6 OBD2 Idle settings
« Last post by jrussell on October 27, 2021, 08:59:26 pm »
Best thing at the current time is not try to use the idle on that throttle. It's the worst throttle design I've ever seen. Use a throttle stop to get it to have a good idle between high and low idle rpms, and use ignition idle advance to dial it in.

That said, I've been working this week on trying some ideas for hardware to control that throttle. All concept so far and hope to start trying some things on the bench by the end of the week.

Wiring & Sensors / Re: Connecting fuel level sensor to VEMS Round
« Last post by Kamuto on October 27, 2021, 01:12:18 am »
Hi all,

I'm new here but using a VEMS Round for years now. It is my main AFR gauge and also connects to the MS DIY PNP.

I have recently changed my dashboard and removed the stock fuel gauge.

I have noticed the VEMS Round has a second line of digits which is now unused.
If possible I would like it to display the fuel level in my tank (so I don't run out ;)).

However I don't know where to start, anybody here how as som experience doing this and could help?

What I know:
Miata fuel sensor reads 5 Ohms full and 114 Ohms empty.

To which cable do I connect the sensor lead?
What settings do I use in the VEMS tune software?
And finally, is simply wiring it in enough, or will I need a signal conversion before wiring it in?

Hope someone can help, thanks!
you will need strong pullup to signal something like 500 ohm would work , pullup means resistor between 5v and signal wire, and then you need to calibrate some sensor

Solenoids / Help! Loosing IAC reference position after transmission swap
« Last post by kiss2101 on October 03, 2021, 12:26:52 pm »
Hi All,

I'm having a weird IAC problem that developed after I swapped my transmission - weird :o , and I would need some help if someone can give me an advice.

Problem + symptoms:
It looks like that intermittently the IAC valve losing its reference position causing a high or low idle speed. The commanded steps are all good as per logs, but the car requires less or more (from pos 11 till 80) to idle at the same RPM. Everything else is the same MAP, in. PW, Lambda, Spark etc.. just the valve needs more or less.

Tried:
- New IAC stepper valve, Ford 4 pin
- I thought it is a vacuum leak so intake was disassembled, re-surfaced, re-sealed, all the vacuum lines replaced and smoke tested.
- All the wiring checked and verified, Grounds checked and replaced with higher gauge wires
- Different configs, bench tested valve etc..

Possible problem source: As the problem appears right after startups even with the same config and conditions, I started to look into Cranking logs when I noticed that the Cranking wasn't recorded in the logs at all. There is a missing 2 second when happens (see below logs).

Note: The only thing that changed is the transmission and the starter motor (brand new bosch unit).

No cranking log:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AiGVmB9OpHfrgvdc_Yxd4XIT_lhP0A?e=YglaAN

No cranking log 2:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AiGVmB9OpHfrgvdd3sTnofGOK19_-g?e=CSWLOR

Cranking visible before swap:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AiGVmB9OpHfrgvdek4YRias6AeYJ8g?e=mmP5Fg

Would someone is able to point me in the right direction or tell me if I'm missing something?

Thank you in advance,
Laszlo

//I didn't want to write down all the things that I tried or config changes to keep it short, but please let me know if extra info needed//
