Title: TPS stuck at 100%
Post by: Alex on July 22, 2009, 06:15:40 PM
Yesterday I installed my VEMS unit in my Citroën Saxo 1.6 16v VTS. I bought an assembled unit from the VEMS webshop (FW 1.0.73) and converted it to the original 3-plug (Magneti Marelli MM48P2 ECU) connector so I could use the original loom. No problems so far...

Calibrating the sensors went fine but when I got to calibrating the TPS things got weird...

The original Magneti Marelli ECU uses some sort of contactless TPS. In the first instance I tried to use this contactless TPS on the VEMS. Whatever I tried, calibrating and swapping the TPS pins around, I couldn't get a normal 0-100% TPS reading in Megatune. It was 100% all the time so I decided to use an analog TPS sensor instead and fitted that in place.

Everything went fine but when I got to calibrating the analog TPS sensor MegaTune still says 100% all the time. Even with the TPS connector disconnected. I tried swapping the pins at the TPS connector but had no success.

What could be wrong?

Thanks in advance

Alex

Measure the resistance in your TPS and post that.
also post screenshots of your settings.

I take it that you have the TPS high and low set to 255 and 0?
What does the voltage read if you probe across the TPS in and ground?

Both read 255 after calibration. On screen-gauge is tps 100%. On the display in the car is tps; max

Tps-sensor works oke in an other car with vems; sensor is tested

It should never say 255 in both

I will post the measurements and settings later this evening.

Thanks

What does the voltage read if you probe across the TPS in and ground?

I suppose "TPS in" means +5v TPS supply? If so, it reads 4.95 volts against ground.

+5 TPS supply is the voltage supply to the TPS.

Measure the voltage on pin 1 where is says TPS IN.

HERE (http://homepages.ipact.nl/~apcjonker/VEMS/Settings%20MegaTune%201.0.73%20Alex%2022-07-09.xls) are my settings (MS Excel file), HERE (http://homepages.ipact.nl/~apcjonker/VEMS/config.txt) my config.txt and HERE (http://homepages.ipact.nl/~apcjonker/VEMS/tables.txt) are my tables.txt

I will measure the TPS IN value tomorrow when I reinstall the VEMS in the car.

We got the tps working now! We set in megatune 0&255 and then calibrated the tps; succes!
Thanks for the advice.

Now we have ignition issius;
could it be in the h- settings?
