Both of my Timming guns dont like the waisted spark coil packs I have.
Anybody sugest a good one that is known to work with waisted spark.
Both are old and were inherited.
So sugestions welcolm on a replacement so I can get the v8 running on The coils.
Kind regards

I've always had good results with rubbish cheap ones that dont claim to know the spark advance.
Currently I tote a Gunson Advance Xenon Timing Light.
Although if I could have found a Gunson Basic Xenon Timing Light I would have been just as happy.
Rob
Wasted spark shouldn't be a problem for the timing lamp - both the sparks should be at the same crank position.
Like Rob, I use basic cheapo timing equipment ;)
The "clever" ones expect to see one pulse per cylinder - with wasted spark they see two pulses which screws up the thing's guessed RPM and advance calculations.
Rob
They sell the gunson xenon for 40squid here in Engerland.
In Ireland they charge 120plus friggin yoyos. Thats twice the price.
Thieving SCUM!
But it does work with twin coils.
Thanks for that, I'll look forward to their legal department contacting me ;D
Posted the same question on locostbuilders a form for us 7 kit car type builders. and started a bit of a rucus oops ::) ::)
The consesus of there is that Expensive ( read snap-off profesional ect ) can cope with waisted spark coil packs even when fitted with the advance options but these can double up the reading for RPM and advance.
Cheaper guns with Advance features can and do get confused.
So ordered a Draper one ( without advance settings ) for Ã,£22 delivered from Ebay from a company with good delivery record. A couple of forum members say that they use this gun with the fors waisted coil packs.
This has given me an idea of a sticky for one of the forums a sort of tool list before you start.
I.e.

Must be more.
