Title: Deadly high egt
Post by: z0tya on March 30, 2009, 07:41:55 PM
Hello!

I have a log with a supercharged (centrifugal) v8 bmw. With 0.6 bar boost, and with intercooler.   The egt sensor somewhere in the collector, but I read over 900 celsius egt, the top is 999.
On idle it shows normal 200-250 celsius, but after it rising rapidly above 850.

Is it possible normal on this engine ? Or something wrong .

Thx

Is this the one with the trigger setup as described in your other post?
How have you mapped the engine?  You may be running too much ignition retard - this can cause high EGT.

Yes, this is the same engine, but not my programming. it is car of my mate, and he is not satisfied the result. The car got a supercharger set with chip and injectors. But leaned out above 6000 rpm. So he went to vems. He said the car not better.

There is some problem with MAT sensor too. It shows between 55 and 65 celsius.
when we displugged showed -40 so i think sensor error.
I think vems retard the ignition because of this. result high egt.
