Hi,
Im having a few problems with my VEMS as a few of you might have seen in other posts. Apart from my very intermittent crank signal one other thing is concerning me very much.
As soon as i turn the ingition on (so the VEMS goes live), injector number 1 fires constantly, to the point where it will completely flood the cylinder, and infact i nearly set the car alight when it backfired.
Is there a setting in VEMS that would do this?
(its holding the injector open full blast without any engine crank at all).
Or all my problems leading to some wiring fault shorting somewhere?
Check your idle valve settings, if you have it set for "Dual Coil IAC", there is something you need to know. They let you select one injector output for this, and the software selects the other output for you. The selected injector channel is the next channel in line from the user-selected channel.
So, if you have channel 7 selected (the 8th and final injector output), then the software chooses INJ0
(output 1) as its 2nd IAC output. This will cause problems if this output is used to fuel the engine.
You can choose the second channel for the IAC by going to "all outputs on one page 2" in the advanced menu.
Also check on these pages for inj0 being double used for some other purpose like a misc out or RPM based output.
Or the FET has died?
Im not using an IAC so im sure none of those settings would be enabled? remember everything was perfect before :S
I have some strange idea that that injector is somehow grounding itself out :S
In that case pull the EC36 plug off and check continuity between the injector crimps on the plug and ground.
