Title: PS2 Keyboard use with VEMS
Post by: Sam8888 on October 24, 2015, 01:27:40 PM
I added the 4 pins that needed to use the PS2 keyboard, and plugged in the PS2 connector. When the ECU boots up, the keyboard's led's blink once, after that, i can change the LCD pages with the arrows, but can't enter to the menu. When i start to type something, on the LCD i can't see (it remains on the page it was before) Am i doing wrong something?

And also i found out that the writeup for the din6 pinout here:
http://www.vems.hu/files/Manual/HTML/ch03s02.html
and here:
http://www.vems.hu/files/MembersPage/RichardBarrington/manual.pdf
is not right.

It say's "Pin 03 - Data to DIN 6 Pin 3" but it should be DIN 6 Pin 1, like it' mentioned here:

Nobody using the PS2 interface for tune?  :o

I should just type in the command Man, and then the tune menu should appear on the LCD right?

I haven't heard of anybody trying to use a keyboard in around 8 years.

I just want to use it for backup. For example if i go somewhere and want to modify something, it'd be nice just plug in a keyboard, then do it...

I carry a 10" notebook for that very reason. Cheap as chips and much more useful and stows nicely under the passenger seat.  I binned off the LCD for the round gauge.

I know it's not as cheap as a PS2 keyboard, but I carry one of these with me if I don't have a laptop at the ready.

I need to find a decent way to stabilize things so I can make a reasonable quality video of how it operates. Runs the full vemstune, not the android version, so any settings can be changed. I use the bluetooth adapter on the ECUs after the car is tuned, so I just use Bluetooth to connect, but this has USB on the go, so you should be able to use a usb to serial cable too.
