Why is VEMS firing and engine starting when camshaft sensor is not connected?

VEMS 3.6 AAN PNP Hall-Hall M55 with trigger_tooth=00

so it should have have camHALL inverter...

so with input open (remove connector), there should be no spark at all

but it is firing and running...   but why??

ECU1 3.7 AAN PNP

Firmware 1.2.30 - not firing

ECU 2 3.6 AAN PNP

Firmware 1.2.32 - firing

I have no logs for these yet but how is that possible in general?

Hello Black,

Without having more details about the actual configuration used (and the exact trigger type) its hard to say much about this, i would recommend creating a sharing report which has at least both configs and preferably a triggerlog of engine cranking 8-10 seconds without IGN and INJ fuse is also included for both.

We also have an option in secondary trigger which allows for this behavior (as a form of limp home) called "Missing tooth primary allow sync without camsync receive" more details on: http://vems.hu/vt/help/v3/v3_secondary_trigger_settings.html

Please provide a bit more details about both setups, so i can investigate,

Best regards, Dave
