Title: Tachometer pin no. on 1995 S6 4.2 ECU connector?
Post by: PeepPaadam on September 12, 2007, 06:47:31 PM
Perhaps you could help me out. I installed VEMS onto S6 4.2 and converted the dual dizzy ignition system to 1.8T (AEB) passive coils.
The car works like a charm but I couldn't find tachometer output pin number in the factory manual I have.

Can someone help me out? Jörgen maybe?

You have to configure the tacho to have a particular output in MT.  This then corresponds to a physical output pin that could be looked up in the pinout diagram.  I think I'm using misc output number 4 for my tacho.

Heh, I'm aware of that ;D  I'm using P259 channel 4 right now with 1k pullup for the tach signal.
It's just I don't know the tach pin number on the original Motronic ECU, i used mostly original wiring. I need to get the dash tach working also..

OK.  I should really read the title of the thread ;)

With a bit of luck, I'm starting a VEMS on a Motronic equipped car next week.  Maybe the manual for it will help you?

I have the factory schematics for it, but there's no info about tach signal from the ECU.

But, I found that pin, it's no 40 (yellow wire) thanks to a friend and 3 hours of work ;D

I know the tach output on a 1987 BMW with motronic ECU is pin-6, or maybe it was pin-7. Not sure if this helps much.
