Title: cam sync info
Post by: Seight-v8 on June 08, 2014, 07:17:43 PM
hello all,

Can someone explain in a bit more detail on how this setting from the secondary trigger options works, ive read the help but doesn't really help me understand how it works.

Ignore sectrig pulses above
Ignore sectrig pulses above this primary tooth count. 255 to disable.

cheers

What does your cam trigger look like?

I don't think my cam trigger is supported at the moment, as it does 4 pulse per 720deg engine rotation, as its a v8, each one 180deg apart.

I've done some trigger logs and mucked around with various settings to see what happens.

After 4 years of vems, I am wondering if it will ever be possible to make this work, with the pattern I have.

Thinking I might email HQ, to see what they say, but I know they aren't hot on replies.

Hello Scott,

If you can make a .triggerlog file which has both primary and secondary trigger (of engine cranking 8-10 seconds without IGN and INJ fuse) and post a link here i can review if it will work and if so; how to configure it.

Best regards, Dave

dave,

cheers please find some info here.

Ive uploaded a cam sync trigger log, with rising & falling settings, as the cam wheel is different for each and not sure which would be best to use.

And my current V1.1.23 config file.

Hello Scott,

Thanks for the additional trigger information. I have good news, your cam trigger is supported!

In secondary trigger rising mode there is obviously no way to distinguish which phase we are in because the secondary trigger pulses are spaced evenly.

However in falling edge configuration we can trigger on the secondary pulse which has the least amount of primary pulses between two following secondary pulses using the setting "Maximum primary edge between secondary edges" (in Secondary trigger settings). Your shortest window is 13 primary pulses per 2 secondary pulses (next is 16). Setting the max_prim_per_sec_count to 14 should get you perfect functional camsync.

I hope this is enough to get you going; If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

Best regards, Dave

finally after checking all the settings, I fired up my v8 with full cam sync.

Works a treat, had to change the tooth ref table with new values from 0 to 72, but other wise worked with the settings from vems.

Only taken me four years to get around to getting it working....

Now for more tuning fun....

cheers
