Title: test ignition output pin36 don't work
Post by: rossi46numberone on March 08, 2011, 09:55:44 PM
Hi,
I'm in trouble because when I do the "ignition output test"in Vemstune,the pin 10,24,34 work but 36 don't( GEN 3.6 / 4+4)....
Does the IGBT driver dead?
When I check it with my DVM it give me the same value like the other IGBT,does this issue come from another place?
Michele.

Does your engine ran before using this output?
Does accordant coil has supply?

yes,I did about 500 km.
After,I  tried to find the right  firing order to fix starting issue....
I decided to pull off  the complete wiring to check the assigned injector output and ignition output and that's all.
How  can I check the ignition controller?
Do the first pin of IGBT have 5v from the controller or on the third?
The center pin go to EC36-pin 36.
In the ouput ignition screen, what are the number in the square (70,30,....)next to the on-off test button?

what do you mean when you say"Does accordant coil has supply?" :-\

I mean 12 volts for coil what you trying to fire from those output.

I would do additional test so:
disconnect all coils driven from IGBTs (I259)
And by inverting it (under ignition settings). Then these outputs should be switched to ground. Check by lamp. Not multimeter!

I have tested the 4 outputs with a 12v 5w lamp in "inverted" mode, it light and stays on until I don't disable the "inverted" function.
the phenomenon is identical for all four outputs....

Then they work.

You really have to define what "not work" means in your initial test to get any help. Did you not get any spark from the spark plug connected to the coil? Was the spark plug properly grounded?

I noticed an identical spike voltage to the 10,24,34 pin igbt component outputs when I press the test button(and the lamp flash),but nothing like that on the 36 output.
It seems that I have no spark from the spark plug.I'll try today with the coil on harness to simulate real ignition conditions....

I've Tried it with the coil and rewired the common positive correctly and everything is back to normal.....
Big thanks at you guys,
Now I have to find the correct firing order.....
