Title: oil pressure sensor
Post by: Seight-v8 on February 13, 2011, 05:14:00 PM
hello all,

Is it possible i could wire my VDO analogue oil pressure sensor in to my vems to log the readings somehow....

The sensor only has one wire attached to it...must be 12v, then the earth is on the oil pressure gauge.

Had some oil pressure problems in the past...and i dont have a warning light...and thought vems could help.

cheers

so i've done some checking and,...

5.87v is supplied the the vdo sensor from the oil pressure gauge, and at 0 bar, the voltage is 0.50v.

so i am presuming this is workable.

Going to try and take other readings 0-5bar, need to think how to test it.

then i presume i need to attach the second vdo sensor wire to some spare analog channel and then come up with some input calibration.

Your right, you can use the spare analog input channels to monitor your oil pressure level. VEMStune can then be
adjusted to show the actual pressure readings.

cheers

got some wire and will try it over the weekend and see what happens, i am hoping it can be logged too.
