Title: Tacho question
Post by: Bat on June 05, 2007, 04:56:34 PM
Hi,
I'm looking to fit a VEMS to my mini, so I've been doing a bit of research and playing with the Megatune ect.
Now me being the kind of person that never does anything straight forward ;D, I've got this little problem that I need some help with....
My instrument cluster is American and configured for a V8, no way to change it :-[ and my engine has only 4 cylinders.  ::)
I've seen the tacho output mulitplier in the settings, can this do what I need? Or is there any other way around this problem?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

You should be able to steer the thing straight with the tacho output settings, I'll check with the dev team as I'm not 100% though - you will only have half as many sparks as the thing is expecting, and the question will be: "at what point will the VEMS generate the additional spark?"

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, Rob. I'm a bit lost with your reference to the extra spark though ???
The Tacho is currently driven direct from an Omex ecu, with no pull up resistor, it works fine except it's half speed ::)
Here's a link to it .... http://www.nordskogperformance.net/products/auto/dashpanels/detail/dp10002.htm (http://www.nordskogperformance.net/products/auto/dashpanels/detail/dp10002.htm)

I guess that you are talking about the Wideband gauge?
