Title: new guy having setup problems with no spark.
Post by: quattroant on July 29, 2010, 03:17:57 PM
Hi, please bear with me I'm completely new to this stuff. I have an audi s2 ABY engine code 2.2 5cyl turbo with a 7a alu flywheel.

just trying to get it started for now. or at least a spark so I can have an attempt at setting it up.

ok, so I have installed the vems and im not getting a spark. measuring the vr sensor for resistance im getting 1000ohms. don't know if its good or bad?

measuring when cranking yields no voltage but Vemstune does register a RPM when cranking reading 100-150rpm in the logs

checking for a spark with a plug placed in a coil pack gets no spark at all.

the grounds are solid got a direct line from exhaust manifold to ecu

i want to follow a method but not sure what to do from here.

thanks in advance.

Is this a PnP ecu?

it's a standard unit with an adaptor loom made up with a motronic plug on the end.

I do know in the PnP version there is a wire needing swapping to make it work.

Right now I can´t help any further.

Maybe have a search on the Wiki

If you run latest firmware and VemsTune I'm sure that the trigger log tool will help you.

If you have an RPM registering  and  you don't receive a cam sync pulse, you won't get any spark.
