Title: v8 just 4 cylinders for cruising?
Post by: josh-stateside on February 21, 2010, 07:01:27 PM
Maybe a dumb question.   Once I got vems running could one shut down one side of a v8 engine to make it just 4 cylinder to save on gas for cruising for long trips?

yes you can do that, but savings aren't big.

Really only a benefit when you can control the pressure on both sides of the head.
i.e less pumping losses.

EGR system will be needed.
