The Car

The engine is a smallport 7 rib high compression Toyota 4AGE running on Twin Dellorto DHLA 45's and Megajolt

But I'm tired of those carbs already. (leaking all over the place, bad starting, wet plugs, etc... ::) )

So I've got a set of 45 Jenvey's, long velocity stacks (10cm) and a set of cleaned and matched 245cc injectors (should be enough for stock engine and can always increase fuelpressure a bit)

As the jenvey's don't have a vacuum takeoff point (or do they? jenvey THP45), it'll need to run Alha-N
Also no idle control valve because of this.

Anyone on here with a similar setup and a good base map? Would like to have it running before handing it over to the rollerman  ;)

The coils are ford early type atm as used for the EDIS/MJ combo.

Trigger is 36-1 on crankpulley

Currently have the v1.0.73 firmware in using the VEMStune version included in the v1.0.73Final.zip file
Can a newer version of VEMStune be used? Up to wich version? (very hard to find this kind of info, wiki is hard to navigate)

1.0.78 would be okay, even better would be the 1.1.5x firmware because of the acceleration enrichment enhancements.
Although there are a large number of 4A-GEs running AlphaN you would need to be aware that the problem with copying maps is that the TPS scaling is different on every installation, and that the issues of throttle size, inlet length and
I know that Irishtwincam on here has posted some ignition maps - those will be a good start for you to look at, and of course fuel will be relatively straightforward because of the lambda sensor.

For something like this I think using MAP comp for Baro compensation would be a good solution.

kitcarfreak

Rob, is 1.1.5x usable with 36-1 trigger? thought the 1.1 series was mainly for auditrigger?

gunni

I´ve used it for 60-2 with ease so I can´t see 36-1 being a problem

kitcarfreak

ok, then I'll switch to the 1.1.5x firmware range

Is there any downside in using the EDIS4, reason for asking is that part is already in place because of the MJ atm. Don't feel much to start cutting up what I've already done neatly as I was able to install the edis4 without cutting any of the original wires.

If you mean the EDIS-4 controller unit then theres no point, all of the control thats in the EDIS is in the VEMS.  If you mean the coil packs, then you can happily use them.

Unless the Map sensor inlet is forward facing and located near the stack inlet, I wouldnt count on barometric correction.
Tweek on here is running Alpha N successfully, however successive mapping runs between motorway junctions West to East, and East to West resulted in different AFRs.
One direction drove into the wind (increased underbonnet pressure), the other direction had the wind behind.
This also affected his Dyno run, since the car was not at 100mph on teh dyno, there was not as much air entering the engine, and it ran MASSIVLY rich, losing power.

Unless the map correction sint on, I suspect its due to map sensor placement :(

I would recommend trying Alpha N/Speed density blending as a successful alternative.

Here are some other installs my brother did on 4AGEs.
