EXHAUST EMISSIONS ADVICE NEEDED
« on: July 21, 2009, 04:52:48 am »
  Hi,
Am after some advise on exhaust emissions for passing the MOT, have a VEMS install on an audi V8 and it runs sweet as nut, however I do not use catalitic convertors as the car its in is nearly 25yrs old,  which means the tester used the old settings of max of 3,500 %vol CO, however the car was 5,697 :-\

Has anyone else had this problem, can a setting be changed to get it to lower the CO level,

Thanks any advise welcome p.s im no VEMS guru so please bare with it,  many thanks regards danny

On one car i put lambda 1.05 and CO was ~0.2% without catalic convertor. So you only need lean mixture.

Yes, lean out the mixture and you can achieve near zero CO.  My TVR just passed it's emissions test (closed loop for catalyst vehicles) without having the cat fitted in the exhast :)
