Capture spark map

I have read some interesting word on Andrey's VVT-i page on wiki about capturing o.e. ecu values (especially cam phase in his project: http://www.vems.hu/wiki/index.php?page=MembersPage%2FAndrey%2FToyotaVVTi) with ALIEN ADVANCE method. But did'nt find more info about it.
Has anybody experience with this? Or some idea to use capturing o.e. spark map.
