m50 PnP Oil pressure input and cooling fan question
« on: October 17, 2018, 12:16:07 am »
I have a M50 PnP and i would like to add oil pressure input, and be able to control a single speed radiator fan.
What i need to know is which outputs & inputs on the auxiliary connector to use; specifically i can choose between protected, as well as protected and pulled up analog inputs (whats the difference?)
I am using a 3 wire oil pressure sensor.
as for the cooling fan; i believe i just need to supply the ground to a powered relay to activate the fan? do i need a resistor? which output?
Aux connector pin out:
1. mcp3208 ch0 (protected analog input)
2. mcp3208 ch1 (protected analog input)
3. mcp3208 ch2 (protected and pulled up analog input)
4. mcp3208 ch5 (protected and pulled up analog input)
5. mcp3208 ch6 (pulled up analog input, strictly 0-5v)
6. 2nd wheel speed in
7. p259 ch4 output (switching to GND; primarily for LED with min 100 ohm current-limiting resistor, or check engine light or resistive load, max 300mA)
8. Extra output 5 (with flyback)
9. Extra output 6 (with flyback)
10. GND

Your help is greatly appreciated.

If it's 0-5v output based on pressure then use a non-pullup input.
For the fan relay, use pin 8 or 9. It provides ground to the relay to switch it on.
