Hello,
Just thought I'd say hello. I'm researching putting VEMs into my FD drift car. I'm pretty new to the whole subject but keen to get stuck in and learn.
Any thoughts on putting it into an FD would be most welcome :)

Hello.

There have been VEMS installed on rotaries.

Take a look at
http://www.vems.hu/wiki/index.php?page=MembersPage

And the projects on this forum for a quick look at what people usually tackle when doing aftermarket ecuÃ,´s.

This should be your first stop howerver.

Thanks Gunni, I found the user guide after posting earlier and just need to finish it so getting more of an idea. Going off to check the rotary link now :)

My biggest issue at the moment seems to be the trailing plugs in the Rotary? I came to VEMS after discovering Megasquirt which seems to have some provision for the trailing plugs. I did notice people on there who had run with just the leading plugs though and I'm wondering if this is a safe option? Although a few people are talking about using VEMS on the rotary I can't find anyone who has actually successfully done it?

I am sure I heard about someone with a PowerFC firing the trailing plugs at the same time as the leading plugs (so that would just be paired outputs on VEMS, so possible).

I've been trying to find an answer to that on the rotary forums as well. If anyone knows please let me know!

I've spoke to a few more people including some tuners and they all say that not running the split between lead and trailing plugs is a definate no-no when under boost. Mazda are running non-split and even trailing before leading in the vacuum part of the map on the Rx8 and its applicable to the other rotaries, but it needs the 15 degree split whilst on high boost to avoid det :( I'd really like to use VEMS but unless I can find an answer to this problem then its looking like a no go. I might still try it in my skyline but need to get the Rex done first.
